John Twele, CFA
Principal, President & Chief Executive Officer
John co-founded Twele Capital Management in 2004. Not intentionally looking to start a firm, John recognized the need on behalf of family, friends and colleagues for help with the management of their investment portfolios and for honest, transparent and customized advice. From those beginnings, Twele Capital has grown to manage approximately $484 million in client assets. Today, John is responsible for all aspects of the investment process including asset allocation, research and portfolio management as well as running the day-to-day business with the other Principals of the firm. Prior to founding Twele Capital, John served as a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at U.S. Bank’s asset manager (now Nuveen) from 1996-2002. He also held senior investment manage roles at Investment Advisors, Inc., American Express Financial Advisors, Kemper Financial Services and Mercantile Trust Company. John is an early adopter and industry expert in the use of Exchange Trade Funds to build efficient, low cost, tax-efficient and transparent portfolios for investors. He earned a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University. A CFA Charterholder, John is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Minnesota. An Eagle Scout with a love for all things outdoors, John enjoys fishing, canoeing, kayaking, cycling and the occasional round of golf. To support all his physical activities, the highlight of John’s day is weightlifting with his wife, Maressia.
